Car accident leaves off-duty New York cop with serious injuries

On behalf of Licatesi Law Group, LLP posted in motor vehicle accidents on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

A sudden moment could change a person’s life forever. These life-changing moments can sometimes be beneficial, but in many cases, individuals suffer negative impacts, especially when the event is a car accident. As a result of such an incident, people may suffer serious injuries that cause considerable upset in their lives.

It was recently reported that an accident in New York resulted in an off-duty officer suffering serious injuries. Apparently, the officer and another driver had moved their vehicles to the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway when a third vehicle drove onto the shoulder and hit their vehicles. Both stopped drivers had been outside their cars at the time of the accident. It was unclear why the drivers had stopped, but an earlier collision may have taken place.

The off-duty officer had to be taken from the scene by medical helicopter. He was reported as being 27 years old, and his exact condition was not given in the report. The driver of the other stopped vehicle did not suffer any injuries in the incident, and the driver of the third car suffered only minor injuries.

The individual seriously injured in this New York car accident could face numerous setbacks. In addition to the pain and suffering the injuries undoubtedly cause, he may also have to contend with various financial struggles relating to medical bills and other expenses. If he feels it could be right for his situation, he may want to gain information on personal injury claims in order to seek compensation for such damages from the driver considered at fault.
