Motor Vehicle Accidents Fatal Crash May Warrant Lawsuit

On behalf of Licatesi Law Group, LLP posted in motor vehicle accidents on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

A serious incident recently took place in New York that resulted in the death of one individual. Motor vehicle accidents are often known for having fatal or other serious outcomes, and unfortunately, a car crash is what caused the death of a young woman. The incident apparently involved three vehicles, one of which was a dump truck.

Reports stated that a 47-year-old man was traveling east in a pickup truck when he turned in front of a dump truck heading west. The driver of the dump truck attempted to avoid the pickup, but in doing so, that driver collided with a vehicle that was traveling behind the pickup. The 26-year-old woman was driving that third vehicle.

The collision resulted in the woman suffering fatal injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured but was issued various operating citations. The pickup truck driver was reportedly considered at fault for the incident, and authorities charged that man with vehicular manslaughter, DWI and failure to yield. The manslaughter charge resulted due to a previous DWI conviction. He was still in custody at the time of the report.

The family of the woman killed in this incident — and families of individuals killed in similar motor vehicle accidents — may wish to determine what actions they could take to seek justice for the event. Exploring options relating to wrongful death claims may allow them to decide whether taking such legal action could suit their circumstances. If successful, a claim could potentially allow them to gain compensation for damages permitted under New York law.
