Though injury-causing incidents take place daily, many individuals do not begin their day thinking that they will be the victims of such an event. Unfortunately, motor vehicle accidents can catch anyone off guard, and often, individuals suffer serious or fatal injuries. One such incident recently took place in New York, and multiple people were injured.
Reports stated that a mother and her three children were walking along a roadway when they were struck by a vehicle. The incident took place around 2:45 p.m., and the driver was heading west when his vehicle hit the family. It was unclear what may have caused the incident to occur, but the crash was still under investigation at the time of the report. Authorities were asking any witnesses to come forward.
The mother — who was reported as being 38 years old — and her children all suffered serious injuries. The children’s ages were given as 3 months, 9 years and 13 years old. The report stated that emergency surgery was performed on the infant after the incident. The driver of the car is currently facing charges for assault, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Serious injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents can lead to numerous issues. The mother involved in this New York incident is undoubtedly glad that she and her children survived the ordeal, but they will likely face considerable hardships in the aftermath of the event. Because financial and emotional struggles may result, the mother may wish to consider filing a personal injury claim against the driver considered at fault in order to pursue compensation for allowable damages for her and her three injured children.
