Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents Often Warrant New York Legal Claims

On behalf of Licatesi Law Group, LLP posted in motor vehicle accidents on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

The injuries that stem from car crashes often depend on multiple factors of the incident. If speed, intoxication or large trucks were involved, it is not altogether unlikely that motor vehicle accidents could result in serious or fatal injuries. Unfortunately, these accidents take place on a daily basis, and the aftermath is often difficult for those close to the situations to handle.

A recent accident in New York yielded devastating results after a truck collided with another vehicle. Reports stated that the incident took place on the George Washington Bridge when a car carrying a 25-year-old male driver and two female passengers was struck from behind by a truck. The driver of the truck did not stop at the scene, but police caught up with the vehicle approximately eight miles away from the crash site.

The incident resulted in the car driver suffering fatal injuries. The two passengers in the car were reported as being 28 and 30 years old, and they were both left in critical condition. The driver of the truck was taken into custody after he failed a Breathalyzer test.

Fatal motor vehicle accidents involving intoxicated drivers often warrant civil legal action from the victims’ families as well as from surviving individuals who were injured. The family of the young man killed in this New York crash may wish to consider pursuing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault. Additionally, the injured passengers may wish to learn more about personal injury claims. These claims could allow them to seek compensation for damages permitted under state law.
