Motor Vehicle Accidents New York Crash Claims Lives Injures 1

On behalf of Licatesi Law Group, LLP posted in motor vehicle accidents on Thursday, December 1, 2016.

When an individual or family is involved in a car accident, it is likely that they have legal options for properly attending to the event. If serious injury or death occurs from motor vehicle accidents, civil claims could help interested parties pursue compensation for damages. If interested, effected individuals may wish to become more knowledgeable on such options.

It was recently reported that an accident in New York involved a wrong-way driver. Apparently, a 23-year-old-man was driving a vehicle east in the westbound lanes, and as result, his sedan collided with a van heading west. The van was carrying a 49-year-old male driver, and the sedan had a passenger in addition to the driver. The passenger was reported as being 25 years old.

The incident caused both drivers to suffer fatal injuries. The passenger in the car was critically injured. A police officer who arrived on the scene after the accident was also injured due to a street sweeper driving through the police barrier. Authorities are likely continuing to investigate the fatal car accident.

Because motor vehicle accidents can have such devastating outcomes, it is not unusual for individuals to hope to find some sort of justice. Filing a civil claim may help to do just that. The family of the van driver may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the estate of the driver considered at fault in order to seek compensation for damages permitted under New York law. Speaking with an experienced attorney may allow them to better understand this option.
