New York Accidents And Injuries Could Spawn Negligence Claims

On behalf of Licatesi Law Group, LLP posted in personal injury on Friday, December 16, 2016.

Parents often worry about their children on a daily basis. Accidents and injuries may be a part of many lives, but some incidents could leave young children and other individuals with serious injuries that considerably affect their lives. If these injuries result from an event in which another individual was at fault, there may be cause to file a personal injury claim.

It was recently reported that an accident in New York led to a young child being injured. Apparently, an initial collision took place between a car and a box truck at an intersection known for being hazardous. Reports stated that this incident was the sixth accident at that location this year. After the vehicles collided, the car continued moving and struck the 9-year-old child, who was walking with his mother.

The child was reported as being seriously injured and was considered to be in critical condition. However, he is expected to survive the injuries. The driver of the car was transported from the scene due to pain, and the driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries in the incident. The crash was still under investigation at the time of the report, and no criminal charges had been filed.

The mother is undoubtedly devastated that her child was so seriously injured by this crash. When accidents and injuries of this type occur, negatively affected individuals may choose to file personal injury claims against the parties considered at fault. In this case, one or both parents could sue on the child’s behalf. Successful civil claims could allow individuals to be awarded compensation for damages permitted under New York law.
