When an unexpected event takes place at a construction site, the scene can quickly become a dangerous area. Many construction accidents involve heavy machinery, equipment or materials that could easily injure New York workers caught in the middle of the incident. Unfortunately, these injuries could have serious impacts that cause setbacks for the injured workers. It was recently reported that an accident took place on a construction site in another state. Reports indicated that the work involved the construction of a warehouse and showroom space, and one of the individuals was working on framing the building. The worker had been standing on some trusses of the frame when an approximately 60-foot length of trusses collapsed. The man fell 20 feet before hitting the ground. It was noted that the man was conscious and alert when emergency crews arrived at the scene. He was reported as having suffered rib and chest injuries and was taken to an area hospital. He was later transferred to a different facility after it was discovered that he also suffered a back injury. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is working on an investigation into the accident to determine potential causes. It is not uncommon for sudden construction accidents such as this one to cause significant harm. If New York workers are involved in such an incident and suffer severe injuries themselves, they may also have to deal with medical costs and other expenses that could further disrupt their lives. In order to potentially gain help with dealing with the resulting financial burdens, injured individuals may wish to find out more information about their workers’ compensation options. Source: unionleader.com, “Rindge man injured in 20 foot fall at Route 119 work site“, Meghan Pierce, Jan. 4, 2017
