Civil Claims May Help In New York After Motor Vehicle Accidents

On behalf of Licatesi Law Group, LLP posted in motor vehicle accidents on Monday, January 16, 2017.

If an individual is seriously injured in a car crash, he or she has the right to pursue legal action against the driver considered at fault. Motor vehicle accidents that have severe outcomes can cause substantial hardships for those who are injured, and filing a civil claim could help those injured parties get back on their feet. A successful case could allow them to gain compensation for allowable damages.

One individual in New York may be considering taking such action after a recent crash. Reports stated that at approximately 7 p.m. a driver failed to remain in the correct lane, went across the lane divider and into oncoming traffic. As a result, the first car collided with a vehicle traveling the opposite way. The crash then caused the second car to strike a third vehicle.

The incident resulted in an individual in the first car suffering fatal injuries. It was unclear whether he was the driver. The driver of the second vehicle was transported from the scene to be treated for injuries, and the driver of the third car was not seriously injured. Authorities were continuing to investigate at the time of the report.

If the deceased individual was the driver considered at fault, the seriously injured individual could still pursue a legal claim. Filing a personal injury claim against the estate of the driver could be an option. This claim could help the injured party pursue compensation for medical bills and other damages stemming from the New York crash. This individual and other parties seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents may wish to find out more information on this option and other civil claims.
