Fire and Explosion Accidents

Fire and Explosion Accidents

Fires and explosions happen more often on construction sites than you think. They can result from gas or chemical related explosions, burst pipes, sparks from welding, battery explosions and more. The most common injury to receive from these incidents are burns.

Burns are labelled as either first, second, or third-degree depending on severity. A first-degree burn is the most common burn you can receive within your daily life. They are only on the outer layer of skin, consist of a red hue, and heal with no lasting damage. Further, second-degree burns sink deeper into the skin’s layers, settling around the epidermis and potentially the dermis layer. Swelling and blistering typically occur.

The most severe burns are third-degree burns, which leave lasting damage. At this stage, the burn has gone through both the epidermis and dermis. Here, victims of third-degree burns may not feel anything. This is due to the nerves being destroyed. Therefore, skin graft treatments become a necessity.

If you or a loved one were severely burned while working on a construction site, you might be able to file a personal injury claim. While an employee seriously injured could file for workers’ compensation, not everybody can file for personal injury. It will take a skilled personal injury attorney to determine whether your case is eligible for personal injury.
