Construction Accidents New York Man Shatters Legs In Fall
On behalf of Rubin & Licatesi, P.C. posted in construction accidents on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

After suffering a serious injury on the job, individuals may have many needs to address. Whether injuries are suffered suddenly in construction accidents or develop over time from assembly line work, the issues could cause many problems in workers’ lives. In many cases, severe injuries require medical attention and extended recovery periods that could lead to financial hardships.

One worker in New York may soon be facing such hardships after a recent accident. Reports stated that the man was a member of a construction crew working on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. While working on an upper deck, he fell and hit a beam on the lower deck. The fall was reported as being 25 feet. Details were not available regarding what may have led to his fall.

The incident caused the man to shatter both of his legs. The placement of his landing also made it difficult for emergency personnel to reach him, and they had to cut through a fence and use a “hasty harness” to rescue him. He was reported as being conscious but not alert and was possibly in shock. He was taken from the scene to the hospital for treatment.

Broken bones can considerably hinder a person’s ability to carry out duties, and since this man shattered both legs, he will undoubtedly need extensive medical attention and time away from work. In order to gain help with the financial aspects of these needs, he may wish to find out more information on workers’ compensation. Like this man, other individuals injured in construction accidents typically qualify for monetary benefits. Speaking with an experienced New York attorney about the workers’ compensation system could help him find out more information on his options.
